Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Locate and check out materials to students. Inspect returned materials for damage. Compute,
record, and receive overdue fines.
• Sort returned materials according to classification code and need for repair. Return items to
shelves, files, or other designated storage area.
• Enter cataloging data into library automated online system.
• Prepare books for check-out; file check-out cards using the loan system.
• Review records to compile list of overdue books. Issue overdue notices to students and staff.
• Maintain a filing system of information such as, but not limited to: library reports, documents, and
student records.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all library materials.
• Report information pertinent to the operation of the library to the principal.
• Maintain accurate records of library funds.
• Order, receive, and maintain library materials as advised and approved by principal.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior. Ensure a safe
environment for students and staff.
• Compose, type, and maintain routine correspondence, reports, assessments, and various other
materials and projects. Submit reports and documents as deemed necessary.
• Operate various equipment to include photocopier, telephone, fax machine, computer, calculator,
educational equipment, etc.
• Attend meetings, training, and seminars as deemed appropriate and necessary by the district.
• Work with highly sensitive personnel and student information. Maintain confidentiality of work
related information.
• Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies. Perform all duties in
compliance with safety standards established by the district.
• Due to the nature of the duties and to promote the efficient operations of the district, it is
necessary for the employee to work the assigned and scheduled shifts.
• Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.
