Madison High School - Madison, South Dakota
QUALIFICATIONS: South Dakota Teachers Certificate with secondary school principal endorsement.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent. Coordinates with the high school principal.
JOB GOAL: Activities Director – Provides leadership to the middle school and high school activities program and administers the program in accordance with district policy and the rules of the SDHSAA.
Assistant High School Principal – Assists and supports the high school principal in the high school administration.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Activities Director):
Organizes and administers the overall activities program, both intramural and interscholastic, without favoritism to gender or activity.
Provides leadership in the selection and assignment of all coaches and advisors.
Conducts the evaluation of head coaches and assistant coaches.
Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the news media and community aware of the activities program.
Works closely with officials from Dakota State University in identifying common interests and fosters partnerships whenever possible.
Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all events.
Hires officials, athletic trainers, and security personnel and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home events.
Arrange transportation for out of town events.
Recommends and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of the activities program in accordance with district policy.
Monitors the eligibility status of student participants.
Recommends to the superintendent and administers the activities program budget.
Requisitions program supplies and equipment.
Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events for the activities program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.
Arrange for the needs of visiting teams.
Arrange field and gym practice schedules.
provides for the physical examination of all participants in accordance with the rules of the SDHSAA.
Administers the student insurance program in cooperation with the business manager.
Keeps records of the results of the middle school and high school contests and maintains a record file of award winners.
Works with booster clubs (athletic and music) in generating school spirit and support for the activities program.
Plans and supervises recognition programs for participants.
Performs other tasks as assigned or necessary to meet the job goal.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Assistant High School Principal):
Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
Serves as the principal in the absence of the regular principal.
Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body by administering the discipline policy in accordance with district policy.
Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year established annually.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated by the superintendent in accordance with district policies.

Salary: $80,500 Per Year
