At LifeScape, our teachers provide an educational experience to students with disabilities at our specialty school. As a teacher at LifeScape, you will work closely with the education team, the healthcare team, the students, and their families to provide the best educational experience possible. You will have teaching assistants that you will supervise as they help you make your classroom a place of learning and compassion!

Key Responsibility Areas Manage and supervise the daily activities of an assigned classroom

• Develops, implements, and evaluates programming in the classroom as a member of the interdisciplinary team
• Leads classroom activities in an instructional atmosphere through implementation and training
• Prepares and maintains classroom materials for the implementation of educational programming
• Conducts, evaluates, and maintains records and assessments
• Writes and maintains the implementation of educational programs/protocols for student IEPs
• Develops and implements weekly lesson plans
• Monitors and reviews student data for instructional and assessment purposes.
• Maintains and documents all relevant educational and behavioral data

Supervise and coach direct reports

• Provides clinical and professional oversight
• Monitors and evaluates performance. Conducts performance reviews
• Addresses staff problems and recommends disciplinary actions
• Monitors and staffs work schedules. Approves schedule exceptions

Requirements Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Must be certified in Special Education with South Dakota teaching certification or temporary certification. Prior teaching experience in Special Education is preferred.
