Job Description:

Sanborn Central School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This position will work with middle school and high school students, providing individualized instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of learners with disabilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student progress.
• Assess student abilities and track progress using formal and informal assessment methods.
• Adapt and modify curriculum to align with student needs and educational goals.
• Utilize positive behavior support strategies to create a structured and supportive classroom environment.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in professional development and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid South Dakota teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement (or the ability to obtain certification).
• Experience working with middle and high school students preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of various instructional strategies, assistive technology, and behavior management techniques.
