REPORTS TO: Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President

POSITION SUMMARY:
Lake Area Technical College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Agriculture Instructor specializing in Ag Production to join our faculty. This full-time position will involve teaching students in the field of agricultural production, including crop and livestock management, farming systems, and sustainable agricultural practices. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and deliver hands-on instruction and online education that prepares students for successful careers in agricultural production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and teach courses in agricultural production, including but not limited to crop and livestock management, soil science, irrigation systems, and sustainable farming practices.
Provide online and in-person hands-on instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings, incorporating modern agricultural technology and equipment.
Prepare course materials, syllabi, and assignments that align with Lake Area Technical College’s curriculum standards.
Assess and grade student performance in accordance with department policies.
Advises students on academic progress, career development, and job placement.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements to integrate best practices into the curriculum.
Collaborate with colleagues in the agriculture department and other related fields to ensure cross-disciplinary learning and project development.
Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and professional development opportunities.
Foster relationships with local agricultural businesses, organizations, and industry professionals to provide students with real-world learning experiences, internships, and job opportunities.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
AAS degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field.
3 years industry experience in agricultural production, including crop farming and/or livestock management.
Strong understanding of modern agricultural technologies and best practices.
Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is beneficial but not required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students in both classroom and field-based learning environments.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and industry partners.
Familiarity with agricultural machinery, precision farming technology, and sustainable agriculture practices.
Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
Ability to mentor and advise students interested in agricultural careers.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate agricultural equipment.

Salary Range    -$47,704.35 - $81,096.37 / Per Year
Shift Type    -Full-Time

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
190-day contract. Salary and benefits are set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with
the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula.
