REQUIREMENTS:

Education:                             Master’s or Specialist Degree from an accredited program of psychology.  Current, valid psychologist certification in South Dakota.

Experience:                           Two years experience as a psychologist preferably in a school system or other pediatric setting.

Physical Requirements:       Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination.  Frequent walking, keyboarding, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, stooping, and turning.  Some lifting up to 50 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Other Requirements:           Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and problem solving skills.  Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet.  Ability to keep information confidential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

1.     Assists students in succeeding academically, socially, and emotionally.

2.     Participates in planning and implementing prevention and intervention programs to address social and affective needs of students.

3.     Evaluates students using appropriate testing, observation, and supplementary information provided by records and outside agencies.

4.     Employs practices that promote home, school, and community partnerships and enhance learning and mental health goals for students.

5.     Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop IEPs and intervention plans to achieve goals.

6.     Maintains student service, administrative and other departmental records in accordance with the District, State, and Federal policies.

7.     Participates in planning and implementing school crisis response plan.

8.     Participates in parent teacher conferences and communicates with parents in regards to student progress; serves as a resource.

9.     Monitors the effects of psych-therapy and the need for continuance or modification.

10.  Attends required meetings.

11.  Prepares reports as required.

12.  Performs other duties as assigned.
