Job Title: 2025-2026 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher with or without Extra-curricular duties
Location: Canistota School District 43-1 Canistota, SD
Job Type: Full-Time (2nd Grade), 2025-2026 School Year
Salary: Commensurate with experience and district guidelines
Base salary of $47,200. Salary could increase depending on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the district salary schedule.

Position Overview:
The 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth for students. This role involves planning and delivering effective instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues and families to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and school curriculum.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs and styles.
Utilize various teaching strategies and technology to enhance student learning.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and collaboration.
Assessment & Student Progress
Regularly assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic progress.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Classroom & Behavior Management
Establish clear expectations for behavior and classroom procedures.
Implement positive behavior management strategies to create a structured and supportive learning environment.
Address behavioral concerns in a fair and consistent manner, following school policies.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with special education staff, support personnel, and specialists to meet student needs.
Professional Responsibilities
Stay current with best teaching practices and educational trends.
Uphold and enforce school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
Certification: Valid state teaching license/certification.
Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
Skills: Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
