QUALIFICATIONS:
Have a high school diploma, and/or Associate Degree or higher, and/or 48 credit hours completed, and/or Para Pro or willingness to complete Para Pro
Be at least 18 years of age
REPORTS TO:
Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, Director of Student Services
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To collaborate and perform many duties that support students with disabilities in various settings that are positive and nurturing while attending to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of special education and classroom teachers
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for each student and monitor their progress by collecting academic and behavioral data
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities; classroom, resource room, recess, lunch, specials, study hall, etc.
Implement accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of the students
Communicate and collaborate effectively with other professionals, general education teachers, special education teachers, related service staff, and others in the school setting
Adapt to immediate changes in the day; be flexible due to schedule changes and support needed
Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills
Consistently follow through with behavior plans and other behavioral needs.
Physically assist students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, bathroom, etc.)
Behave and speak in a professional manner at all times, and remain confidential
Set a good example: strong work ethic, appropriate dress, punctuality, good attendance, patience, positive, adaptable
Attend staff and team meetings that are required of you
Follow the chain of commands, communicate with special education teacher/case manager of students, along with keeping information confidential in all settings
Assume any responsibilities appropriate for the position- willing to initiate tasks, provide transportation, move to settings and/or grade levels per student need
Provide transportation to and from home/school settings
Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
Follow student health plans (i.e. seizure, diabetic, etc.)
Support the Mission Statement and goals of the district; follow through with school policies and work agreements
Complete all other duties as assigned by the special education teacher, principal, director, and/or superintendent
*10 month work agreement at 36.25 hours per week; 7:45 AM-3:30PM

Salary Range -$18.75 / Per Hour
