Position Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher
Location: Selby Area School
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Base Salary $47,700
Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction aligned with students’ goals and the general education curriculum.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning experiences.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Provide targeted support in academic, social-emotional, and behavioral areas.
- Use evidence-based strategies and tools to address a variety of learning styles and needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, behavior plans, and communication with families.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment where all students feel valued.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid South Dakota teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable educational environment.
