Job Overview:
Sanborn Central School District is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable educator to teach multiple elementary grade levels at the Upland Hutterite Colony. This unique role requires a teacher with strong organizational skills, a passion for working in a multi-grade classroom, and an appreciation for diverse cultural perspectives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver lesson plans that address the needs of students across multiple grade levels in core subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
• Adapt teaching methods to support a multi-age, multi-ability classroom environment.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that respects and reflects the values of the community.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and communication to students, parents, and community leaders.
• Collaborate with the community, school district staff, and administrators to ensure the educational needs of the students are met.
• Promote the social and emotional development of students, fostering a love for learning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in the state of South Dakota.
• Experience in a multi-grade or rural school setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A commitment to culturally responsive teaching and fostering positive relationships within the community.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of strategies for teaching in a multi-grade classroom.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• An understanding of or willingness to learn about the Upland Colony culture and values.
