Job Overview:
The Sanborn Central School District is seeking a dynamic, qualified individual to join our team as a Middle School Math and K-12 Physical Education teacher. This unique role will involve teaching math to middle school students and physical education to students in grades K-12. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching both mathematics and physical fitness, demonstrating the ability to engage students in both subjects and foster a supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Middle School Math:
· Develop and implement math curriculum for middle school students (grades 6-8), fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Create engaging lesson plans that align with district and state standards.
· Assess and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support as needed. Prepare for state assessments.
Maintain clear communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and performance.
K-12 Physical Education:
· Plan and deliver physical education lessons for students across all grade levels (K-12).
· Promote health, fitness, and sportsmanship, encouraging lifelong physical activity and well-being.
· Organize and supervise physical activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
· Assess and document students' physical fitness and skill development.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, with a major or endorsement in Math or Physical Education (or both).
· Valid teaching certification in the state of South Dakota.
· Prior teaching experience in a school setting is preferred.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and families.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of state math and physical education standards and curriculum.
· Experience or strong interest in implementing technology and innovative teaching strategies.
· Ability to adapt lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
