Middle School Spanish Immersion

The goal of the Spanish Immersion program in middle school is to expand Spanish speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills and develop a multicultural awareness of Spanish-speaking people around the world. Middle school Spanish Immersion students receive classroom instruction in Spanish in three classes every day: Spanish science, Spanish social studies, and Spanish language arts. All other middle school instruction is delivered in English.  

What Makes You a Good Fit?

• Bachelor's degree required.
• South Dakota certification or licensure with endorsements in the areas of teaching assignment required.
• As part of the certification requirements with the Department of Education, candidates must submit a Foreign Credential Evaluation. To do this, candidates can use any NACES or AICE approved agencies. Get started with this today to help expedite future processes!
• Successful student teaching or experience teaching in a Spanish learning environment.
• Native or near native Spanish skills with the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish and English.
• Meet District Spanish language competency standards for oral and written proficiency established through objective means selected by the District and through lesson demonstration.
