Job Description:

Lake Area Technical College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our Caterpillar ThinkBIG Diesel Program as an Instructor. This position offers an exciting opportunity to educate and train the next generation of diesel technicians in a state-of-the-art facility, collaborating closely with industry leader Caterpillar. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in diesel technology, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Classroom instruction and curriculum development for the CATERPILLAR ThinkBIG Diesel program including:
Electrical systems diagnosis
Diesel engine electronic fuel systems
Drive trains
Preventative maintenance
Heating and air conditioning systems
Hydraulic and electrical systems
Supervision and instruction in lab; maintain inventory and equipment.
Planning, implementation, and evaluation of ThinkBIG curriculum.
Monitor safety procedures in student operation of equipment and overall lab safety.
Work in partnership with diesel instructors to create an effective instructing team.
Assist with student recruitment/campus-wide events/public relations for department and LATC.
Provide a positive role model for students; develop and maintain industry connections.
In cooperation with the Diesel Technology department, prepare, analyze and advocate for the budget items.
Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and assist in their professional development.
Work closely with Caterpillar representatives to ensure program alignment with current industry practices and technological advancements.
Coordinate with regional dealerships and industry partners to facilitate internships and placement for students.
Willing to travel for internship visits.
Other duties as assigned. 

REPORTS TO: Diesel Technology Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology
Minimum of three years of industry experience in diesel technology, preferably with Caterpillar equipment.
Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, systems, and diagnostics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software relevant to Caterpillar equipment.
Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends.

Primary Location    -Lake Area Technical College
Salary Range    -$59,000.00 - $82,600.00 / Per Year
Shift Type    -Full-Time

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
190 day contract. Salary and benefits set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula.
