POSITION: School Resource Security
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.             High school diploma or equivalent.
2.             Obtain and keep up to date with First aid and CPR knowledge/ training.
3.             Basic supervisory and disciplinary skills.
4.             Ability to interact effectively with parents, school district personnel, and representatives of other agencies.
5.             Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
 
 
REPORT TO: Building Principal and Director of Security
 
JOB GOAL:     The goals of the program include:
        -  preventing drug and alcohol use in school.
        -  preventing juvenile crime in school.
        -  establishing a positive relationship between youth and law enforcement.
        -  helping students to become responsible citizens.
        -  form and maintain links between school, community, law enforcement,
            and judicial systems.
 
PEFORMANCE REPSONSIBILITIES:
1.             Be able to attend and pass the School Resource Officer certification Class.
2.             Wear Security Uniform while regular school day is in session except on Spirit Days and any other day the School Administration approves.
3.             Document activities on and off assigned campus and maintain a weekly activity report to be turned to their Supervisor.
4.             Attend most after school home functions such as athletic events, dances, pep rallies, and graduation exercises.  Exception can be made, if approved in advance, by the School Administrator.
5.             Make all reports (incident, accident, etc.) available to their supervisor.
6.             If sick, notify School Administrator at soon as possible.
7.             Notify the School Administrator upon leaving the school campus for any reason.
8.             Supervises bus traffic at the beginning and end of each school day to ensure the safety of all the students.
9.             Improve the schools perception as a safe learning environment and deter misconduct by remaining highly visible in the halls, cafeteria, and gymnasium.
10.          Serve as a role model to students, especially in terms of appropriate attitudes and respects.
11.          Assist the school administration with anyone who is causing a disruption, truancy issues, and criminal activities occurring on campus.
12.          Perform ongoing security checks of the campus and make recommendations to the school Administrator.
13.          Attend parent and faculty meetings when requested by the School Administrator.
14.          Attend conferences with students, parents, and faculty members when necessary to assist them with law enforcement issues and or crime prevention.
15.          Assist the School Administrator in developing and implanting plans and strategies to prevent and handle dangerous situations.
16.          Serve as a liaison between the school personnel, and parents.
17.          Will observe the same Holiday hours as the school administration of the assigned school during the school year.
18.          Be familiar with all community agencies, which offer assistance to youths and their families, such as mental health clinics, drug treatment centers, and juvenile authorities, make referrals to such agencies when necessary.
19.          Adhere to the Oglala Lakota County School Board policies at all times.
20.          May be assigned to Evening and Weekends for after school activities.
21.          Shall perform other duties as assigned.
  
EVALUATION: The performance of this position will be evaluated by the building Principal/Administrator.
 
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:  All employees in contact with children must submit to and pass the required criminal background check and drug test.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year will be established by the Oglala Lakota County School Board.
